National Award Winning H-1B Innovation Program - AZ MEP and NACOG The Arizona MEP Innovation program was one of four US Department of Labor (DOL) initiatives with MEPs, local workforce boards and Time Wise Management Systems. Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG) was the grantee and worked closely with Arizona MEP to ensure success. Both major public universities in the state participated as well as technical experts from across the nation, overseas and from several federal laboratories. The program was the only DOL Technical Skills grant to win a National Association of Development Organizations' Innovation award. The program exceeded all goals and, with a co-investment of over $7.7 million added to the $3 million DOL funding, trained over 1,200 high tech workers in new product development and commercialization resulting in over $23 million in increased sales.
