Grants and Guidance - Arizona MEP Helps Tempe Firm Make Product Development Transition
Research Integrations Uses Training and Funding Assistance to Launch Software Product
Tempe, AZ - For over a decade Research Integrations, Inc. (RII) has been developing and applying design principles to enhance human performance in simple and complex task environments. RII identifies and develops products to make scientific and technical information usable by the people who need it. Based in Tempe, Arizona, Research Integrations, Inc. assists customers nationwide including the FAA, NASA, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Booz Allen Hamilton, and other research and industrial organizations in the aviation, automotive, and manufacturing sectors.
During a recent project, members of the RII team were introduced to the Arizona Manufacturing Extension Partnership (Arizona MEP), which proved timely, as the company was in the midst of a major transition going from a solely service-based business model to a product-based, service-differentiated model with the launch of a new software tool. RII brought in a team from the Arizona MEP to conduct a training assessment and secure grant funding for training and employee education.
The Arizona MEP team and a group of industry experts conducted a Technical Skills Training Assessment to help RII identify their specific needs and objectives and to make suggestions on actions the company could pursue to achieve their product development goals. RII secured a grant from the Northern Arizona Council of Governments to fund the assessment as well as additional grant funding to help as they moved forward with recommendations from the training assessment.
“The Arizona MEP is an exceptionally valuable resource for companies. Their assistance in helping us obtain grant funding has been integral to the success of our transition,” said Sarah Harron, Research Integrations’ Human Resources Manager.
The Arizona MEP is an affiliate of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) under the U.S. Department of Commerce. The national MEP is a network of manufacturing extension centers that provide business and technical assistance to smaller manufacturers in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Through MEP, manufacturers have access to more than 2000 manufacturing and business “coaches” whose job is to help firms make changes that lead to greater productivity, increased profits, and enhanced global competitiveness.
